Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 9/17/11
Despite the cool temperatures we have still not seen a big movement of bass to the fall bite; fishing is better there are days that make you think fall fishing is here but not what I would expect during the fall as of yet. We are kind of in a mode of opposites, you would expect the cloudy days to be the best but it appears the sunny days are more active; this is very much the case for the top water bite and that is what most customers enjoy this time of year.
We did have some pretty good days this past week, with a couple of days of 20 plus fish in the boat; it seems the early part of the week was better than the later part. The real issue is not numbers it is size, finding tournament size fish for me has been a struggle and the tournaments are only weighing in 17 to 18 lbs. for the winners on a daily basis and for Guntersville this is very poor we are use to 24 plus pounds being the winning weight.
The best bite is top water on frogs or pop-r it's a lot of fun and there is much more to come!
