Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 10/20/09
This past week on the water has been everything but typical fall fishing. The bite is scattered at best, the big fish are still hard to find and the baitfish is everywhere. When you find schooling fish is fun, a lot of action and fast and furious, past that your fishing hard and getting very light bites when you do get one. The numbers were good if your just fishing for bites but at the end of the day you really don't feel like you have had a lot of action.
I spent the week from end to end fishing the lower, middle and upper ends of the lake hunting some big bites. The best of the bigger fish are coming on "rats" but the day is long and the action is sometimes frustrating as you seem to get a lot of blow- ups 5 yards away. When they do strike they are good fish and the fight is on! The numbers came on 6 inch Mister Twister worms in dark colors, some on small crank baits and a few on Secret Weapon Lures buzz baits.
The fall bite should be here and all I can say is it will show up at any time I promise! There are good days ahead the next 7 weeks should offer up the good times. Come fish with me I have days available to fish with you!
