Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 10/9/10
Guntersville continues its up and down days as we move to the middle of October; I have a hard time believing that the fishing can change from day to day as it has this past fall and late summer. The lack of bait being ambushed by schooling feeding bass has really puzzled me. We should be seeing bass chasing bait fish all day long, the water temperatures are in the mid to high 60's and the bait is all over the lake yet the feeding frenzy has just not occurred.
It's the time of year where there should be a top water bite all day long and we are lucky to find a couple hours a day of this kind of activity; and then you must be lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time.
When we were lucky to be on them our best fish are coming on SWL buzz baits and crank baits off the grass anywhere from 10 ft. of water in to 4 ft. One day we were fishing ditches with Tight-Line jigs and got into some decent size fish for about an hour or more working a ½ oz. jig in black and green color. We had to move it very slowly to get the bite but the fish were decent size.
A trip to the lake will be challenging, but persistence and a little luck will pay off!
