High winds stired Lake Erie today so walleye fishing slowed down. But the walleye are still in a strong spawning mode and coupled with favorable weather beginning Friday the weekend bite should be hot.

Jig snd blade fishing should pickup as the lake settles and the weather stablizes for the weekend. Drift fishermen will target the reef and near-reef areas and trollers will work the outer reef areas north and east of the reefs and the Kelley's and Bass island areas.Favorite baits are crankbaits and spinners.

Area bait stores are well stocked with jigs, blade baits, minnows and trolling supplies.
