Florida Keys Fishing, Key Largo

With all of the rain we have been experiencing in South Florida, with the combination of a full moon. We have a lot of green water on the edge of the reef, extending out to 200'. The green water causes the Speedo bite to slow down. Which is the bait of chose for fishing in the Keys. However,if you can't get the speedos to come up ,you can always use dead bait.

Using dead speedo and/or blue runners can be very effective. Make sure you use the appropriate length of leader, according to the depth/current.

Yellowtail fishing has been very good, using sand balls to get your bait down (esp. past the "junk Fish") without a weight is critical.

Offshore fishing for Mahi has been slow and usually is when there isn't a East or South East wind blowing.

Week's Forcast for the Florida Keys.

Expect the wind to pick up from the South East over the next couple of days. This should get the Mahi feeding and push the green water back and allow for the bluewater to be closer to the reef.
