Fort Lauderdale Fishing on Happy Day Today with Capt. Zsak

Spectacular weather her in Fort Lauderdale FL. Temperatures in the low 90's – at night dropping into the high 70's; winds out of the east at 4-7 mph with a light chop and 30% chance of rain in the early evening.

Myra Murphy from Orlando and her two children, Will age 7 and Vanessa age 5, charted the Happy Day Today Topshot Fishing in Fort Lauderdale FL to do some deep sea fishing while her husband was attending a conference meeting.

Today was going to be a trolling day, trying to target smaller fish for smaller anglers. With four Ballyhoos and one ¼ ounce yellow jap feather for surface baits and two deep lines – a #8 plainer with a pink sea witch (Vanessa picked this out since she liked the color pink  ) in front of a double hook Bonito strip on one side and a #6 with a 3 ½ blue reflector Drone spoon on the other. We started trolling south off the sea buoy which sits in 120 ft. of water off of Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale towards one of our artificial wrecks. With major schools of Bonitos still migrating pass Fort Lauderdale, they seem to be the best action taking place. Two minutes into trolling, one of the surface bait from the outrigger snaps out. With the rod bent over, Mitch, our mate, placed the rod in Vanessa's fighting chair. Vanessa held on to the rod, as she turned the reel handle, and Mitch stood in front of her to rest the rod tip on his shoulders. Our little angler retrieved the fish and Mitch leaned over and put the 20 lb. Bonito into the boat. Mom, Myra, was snapping away pictures of the catch and Vanessa's gleaming face. Next up was Will – the plainer rod bent over and he retrieved 500 feet of line with a nice Bonito on the end of it. The action went back and forth between our two junior anglers, and Myra looking on with pride. Both children took a quick nap inside our A/C salon on the leather sofas to get refreshed, and mom took over being our major angler. Mom caught a few more Bonitos and a Black Fin Tuna, a few Sailfish, however we only are catching one week, when winter times rolls around, then the Sailfish will bite good.

With a good catch of fish on the charter boat Happy Day Today Topshot Fishing, it was time to start heading back from our deep sea fishing in Fort Lauderdale FL to the dock at Bahia Mar. This ends another successful and adventurous deep sea fishing charter on the Happy Day Today/Topshot Fishing with Captain Zsak.
