Deep Sea Salt Water Fishing in South Florida Ft.Lauderdale on Happy Day Today/Capt. Zsak
Just another gorgeous day here in sunny Ft. Lauderdale South Florida. Prevailing winds are east, southeast; the winds were 10-12 mph and the seas were 2-3'. Al Liv and friend, Mike, from Rhode Island chartered the Happy Day Today to do some deep sea salt water fishing here in Ft. Lauderdale, South Florida. Being an avid fisherman for Stripe Bass, Al decided to try his luck at King and Shark fishing.
We started off deep sea fishing in 120 ft. of water at the sea buoy off of Ft. Lauderdale. Fishing for King fish is very exciting. The larger King fish, which are called Anacondas, are mostly caught with live bait. To see this silver bullet sky rocket 10-15 ft. out of the water is a good remedy for getting your heart to beat fast. The initial run will burn your thumb if you try to slow the fishing line down. Al and Mike caught a handful of King fish, and some Bonitas.
It was time to try our hand at some Shark fishing, so I moved out to deeper waters over a wreck located in 350 ft. of water off of Ft. Lauderdale, South Florida. Fishing in this area will hook up numerous Sharks, such as Mako's, Bull's Hammerhead's, and Thresher's ranging anywhere from 50 to 500 lbs. We had five Shark baits out, one on the surface, one midrange, one on the bottom and a kite with two live baits. The prime bait used for Shark fishing is a Bonita and King fish. Sitting there waiting for the fish to bite, looking at the beautiful blue skies, finally our predator appeared. He grabbed the King fish bait, line screaming out, rod bent over, showing his enormous power. Forty-five minutes into fighting the fish, the Golden Hammerhead's dorsal exits the water. Mitch our mate grabs a hold of the liter for picture taking while the fish is trashing back and forth on the side of the boat and thereafter releases the Hammerhead Shark.
It was time to start heading back from our deep sea salt water fishing charter to the dock at Bahia Mar, Fort Lauderdale South Florida. This ends another successful and adventurous deep sea fishing excursion on the Happy Day Today with Captain Zsak.
