Fort Lauderdale Fishing with Topshotfishing and Capt. Zsak

Scott Riddell and his two sons, Zach and Alex, from Ontario chartered the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea big game sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. As they boarded the boat, they were welcomed by the Topshotfishing team. When asked what type of fish they were interested in catching, Scott responded that he would like to catch a Sailfish.

On the way out, we stopped at T&T bait to purchase a dozen live Goggle Eyes, which will be used later on the charter. Fifteen minutes thereafter lines were in 120 ft. of water by the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale, 1.8 miles from shore. We started out trolling with two #8 plainers each with sea witches and a double hooked bonito strip. For surface baits, we went with four Ballyhoos.

As we trolled the reefs in Fort Lauderdale, the two boys took turns bringing in Kingfish. It was now time to do some live bait kite fishing so we set up two kites with two live Goggle Eyes from each kite. Our first strike was a Kingfish that sky rocketed from the right short – a swing and a miss. From there we set up again and an explosion on the left long occurred. Sailfish on the right long!!! Alex was our angler and hopped into the fighting chair to fight the Sailfish. After twenty minutes, the Sailfish came out of the water and threw the hook – no cigar but fun fighting the fish. We rest and this time Scott was our angler. Another explosion on the right long – fifteen minutes later, Dave, our mate, wired and gaffed a 25 lb. Black Fin Tuna.

From here we started trolling back to the buoy in Fort Lauderdale. In 190 ft. of water the rod bent over and the rod tip bounced up and down frantically – we knew it was a Wahoo. Zack was our angler and fifteen minutes later, Dave, our mate, gaffed the 30 lb. Wahoo as the fish exposed his razor sharp teeth. Nice going!!!

It was now time to head back to the dock. The anglers retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock at Bahia Bar located at 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
