Hey there, it's Brian Mack. Writing a Sturgeon fishing report is easy and not time consuming. Here it is: Good. Perhaps Very Good.
In detail here's some more info:
We're doing well using Lamprey, Smelts aka Oolies, roe, and some natural finned creatures from the river. Nothing is better than another for now. One day it's oolies, the next lamps and so on. It even changes from spot to spot. We always have a good selection of bait at this time of year. Cover water. But don't be impatient, it might be advantagous to give it 30 minutes before moving. We sat in a spot yesterday for 30 minutes before getting a bite. Then we got 2 nice fish in a row and had many big fish bites that were missed.
Wow! A massive Fraser river Sturgeon measuring in at 8 ft 8 inches was caught friday May 8. That converts to at least 350 lbs. It was caught by a client who was being guided by our Sturgeon guide Jason.
I anticipate May & June to provide excellent sport fishing.
Keep in mind that August to November provides epic Sturgeon fishing on the Fraser river. Book one of our BC Fishing Packages and be blown away!
