Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 8/15/09
The heat has definitely slowed the bite this past week, coupled with the enormous amount of small newly hatched bait the lake just did not offer up the kind of fishing we have been use to. I believe the bass have found feeding easy in the heat with the abundant small bait available, as their metabolism has slowed in the hot weather. Have no fear though the some cooler weather is just around the corner.
The bite we did get this past week came some on Punisher Spinner Baits and some on Tight-Line jigs but the bites were limited for me. When we decided to down size with trick worms or finesse worms we were able to but numbers in the boat but not much size. The fishing has been so good all year I guess one slow week in the middle of the "dog days" of August is something I won't complain about.
This next week the schooling fish should start to surface again and should pick up the fishing as we move toward the end of the month. Come fish with me I have days and open all the fall and expect the bite to pick up quickly as we see a few cooler nights!
