Fishing Report 8/25/06 - 25 Aug 2006

Fishing was good this week. The swordfishing trip is red HOT! We've caught one on every one of our last few trips. Had some really really huge ones on too. The Catch My Drift, due to its success, is now doing a swordfishing trip every week on Friday night. We limit the number of passengers to 15 people so make your reservation early, its a popular trip. As far as our normal drift trips, we've been catching yellowtail snapper and kingfish. That is when you can get your line past all the bonitos. There have been so many bonitos this week, we've literally had to put another fishbox on the boat to hold all the fish. Yeah red hot action this week. Not too many really huge fish on the drift boat but some great action with 10-20lb. bonitos and kings. Mary B III drift boat caught a 175lb lemon shark while snapper fishing Saturday night.

For Sportfishing, we've been doing alot of shark fishing. While we've only caught 2 sharks this week sportfishing, while we've been fishing for them, we've been jumped by soem really nice schools of dolphins(mahi mahi). Some really big ones too. Trolling has been yeilding good action with tons of bonitos around if you want to bend the rod alot. Wreck fishing has been picking up as well. Big amberjacks and Capt. Paul has been doing his grouper runs and as usual, and hes been living up to his reputation as the best bottom fisherman in Fort Lauderdale. Night fishing for snook has been good too. I went out fun fishing last night and I was 5 for 7 snooks in about 2 hours of fishing. Right here in the intercoastal waterway. Capt. Johan has been running a few swordfishing trips this week and caught 2 swords over 100 lbs. one night. All in all fishing has been really good. So tight lines, and see ya all next report.
