LAKE CONDITIONS: Toledo's level is up slightly to 168.20 with in unit running 2 hours from 6 to 8 p.m. Water temps range from 58 to 60 degrees with all of the lake having good fishing conditions.
FISHING REPORTS/BASS: Fishing was good last week when winds allowed us to move around on the lake. We had to trailer some days to get close to where we wanted to fish. There are still good populations of bass in the grass and on south Toledo, there is plenty of hydrilla even though a small amount is showing signs of colder water temps. Spinnerbaits (Stanley Wedge Plus/Icon) are one way to fish the grass with a variety of retrieves/presentations from waking to slow-rolling.
Small and mid-diving crankbaits (Baby Ns, Frenzy and DLNs) are good grass baits when worked around the outside edge as well as over the grass. Lipless crankbaits (Frenzy Rattl'r and Bill Lewis Rat-l-Trap) are excellent choices over and around the grass. Also, dead-sticking a Gulp! Sinking Minnow or Senko rigged wacky or Tx weedless/weightless.
Berkley's Foot Ball jig and Stanley's Bug Eyed jig are catching good bass on deep points and ridges from 15 to 25 feet. Deep diving crankbaits (my hands down favorite is DD22) are catching good bass when worked on outside of deeper grass as well as on deep points in depths of 12 to 25 feet. I also continue to catch bass on spoons and drop shot in depths of 30 to 45 feet.
