Sorry it has been so long since my last report. My brother and I started running our Spring Break and Family Fun trips at the beginning of March. Every year during March & April we offer specials on these trips. Since these months are traditionally pretty windy, these trips are perfect for families, spring breakers and kids. We were catching anywhere from 20-70 fish every outing. Of course we are not fishing for speckled trout, but we do catch red fish, sheepshead, puppy drum, big black drum, whiting, gulf trout, sand trout and the occasional flounder. These trips are action packed and everyone catches plenty of fish! May is here we will be fishing for speckled trout and red fish on most of our trips. The month of May is really the start of great fishing. The winds usually settle down and the schools of specks come in from the gulf. Our beach front fishing turns on, a variety of fish show up at the jetties and limits of speckled trout are caught along shorelines. These past 2 weeks the winds have been really strong and fishing has suffered. I have only run 3 trips in the past 10 days. One trip was a very successful jetty trip, 1 produced 9 trout & 1 red fish and 15 nice specks on the other trip. Keep in mind these trips were in winds 22mph - 28mph. We are using live shrimp under a popping cork and fishing shorelines trying to stay out of these crazy winds. Hopefully we can get these winds to lay down and get some rain soon! It can only get better. Until next time , see you on the water.
