Mosquito Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report
The Central Florida winter is here and while the northern states are experiencing some of the worst storms in years, those of us down here are getting epic days outside.
With days like we are having here the past few weeks and the next few weeks ahead according to the long term forecast we should be getting some just excellent days of fishing in. Now granted there were a few days here where the winds and rain were just horrible, but you need days to do other things, so take advantage of them.
The redfish and spotted seatrout bite has been just off the wall. With the Mosquito Lagoon having crystal clear waters this is making for awesome sight fishing the flats.
Using the DOA Shallow Running Baitbusters and the Airheads early for feeding fish and schools is a great choice. Then as the light prevails above you switch to the DOA Shrimp or a CAL. Searching the shallow flats that hold bait and warmth for them. If fly fishing, use a shrimp pattern or small black crab pattern, this will do the trick. However work hard on limiting the false casts and accuracy on both rods is needed.
Mixed in with the reds and trout are a few black drum as well.
Here is a video I made of myself catching a really nice seatrout:

As always please be sure to handle all of your fish carefully for the release. Everyone have fun and be safe out there.
