Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 5/3/08
Water Temperature 73 degrees
We had a combination of sun, wind and rain this past week and it made for ever-changing daily conditions on the lake. You fought the wind in the later part of the week and begged for a little in the beginning. The fish however maintained a fairly good feeding pattern the key was being able to stay on them with the powerful south wind.
Having said all that the daily catches were up to the 15 to 30 range and the active fish produced some good times on the water. We only had one big fish this week but caught several in the 3 to 4 pound range. Most of the week we stayed off the backwater and fished humps, points and ledges leading into the creeks. It appeared to me that the fish related better to humps than any other structure we fished.
Most any bait you threw caught fish but the best bite was Punisher Spinner Bait in watermelon color ' oz. in size. The second best bite came on a Mister Twister 6 inch lizard in blue fleck color. However we did catch them on small crank baits and rattle baits. The top water bite is starting to show up, so if you like to catch them on top the time is near.
I have several available dates in May and June and would love to hear from you to put together a trip on beautiful Lake Guntersville.
