Left the dock abut 0710 (da boys were late) with the Lapenta family.......son as we cleared out of the river all I could see were Gannets diving from the Tip of the Navel pier out to the tip of Sandy Hook. Thought this was going to be the day, yeah right.......

Boys started jigging and it was quite awhile before we hooked up a 25" Bass, had almost all the head boats and arund 6 other private charters as well as 15 or so private boats....saw around 10 shirt bass boated on the others, we boated 2 more at 23", my ballon was bust.......fish dispersed and so did we.

Headed out between the channels, Blues t 8 lbs and more short bass to 23". Tried drifting some clams/eels, nodda.

Ran down the beach to just south of the Highlands bridge, again Gannets diving all over...more short Bass to 24" and no real bite going on, just a fish here and a fish there.

Ended the day back up near the Sandy Hook Channel on working birds, another short bass and then zippo........

All in all a great day on the water, boys were a tad cold, ya gotta dress for this weather. We should have boated dzens of fish by the readings and bird action, but what are you gonna do......... Be back out again tomorrow
