We were greeted yesterday with HEAVY seas, the remnants of the recent storm. Still, the fishing was ON. We started out in 52 ft. of water straight out the inlet, stopping on the bird play. That spot only produced a couple of Bluefish. We then headed to the beach. At first the water was quite dirty, but pretty quickly the breeze pushed in clearer water and the fishing exploded. Bird play pointed the direction as did the massive clouds of Sand Eels. It was about 50/50 between Bass and Blues. The Bluefish were huge. Biggest around 18lbs.

If heading out, I suggest you head North of the inlet and try around 38ft of water. Large Ava's are producing best. We still have quite a few weeks left in the season. Get out there!

Company: First Catch Fishing

Area Reporting: Atlantic Ocean - Barnegat Lighthouse Proximity.

Bio: Born and raised in New Jersey, I developed a passion for fishing as a young child. I remember fishing with my father on my uncle's 13ft. whaler. I was 6 or 7 years old and we were fishing in Barnegat Bay for winter flounder. Boy was it cold... but oh so much fun! Now with over 40 years of local fishing experience I do everything possible to create a great fishing trip. No Experience Necessary. My professional approach is that I am always willing to teach a guest how to improve their angling skills. Whether educating children or beginners I am always patient and courteous. However, when guiding hard-core anglers, I understand that catching fish is job one and will do everything possible to locate the feeding fish. Believe me, I want to catch fish too! In addition to great fun, most of the fish we catch are also great eating. Of course, I suggest you only keep what you can eat.
