CHASE N' TAILS FISHING CHARTERS FISHING REPORT...
It's almost scallop time here along the Nature Coast the season starts July 1st and goes through till September 10th the key to finding scallops is to look for the short grass the long turtle grass is harder to find them. I like to find an area with sand short grass and coral i tend to do best in these areas. All you need is a mask, snorkel, fins, and a mesh bag to put your scallops in. Last year was tough from bay port to chazz but the further north is better but Capt. Josh knows some secret spots that hold scallops every year..
The redfish are chewing great first thing in the morning top water plugs are the way to go and around high noon a white jerk bait does the trick. Live bait is allways good to have on board pinfish, green backs, and fresh mullet works great use a 2-3/0 circle hook to prevent gut hook fish. A high out going tide is the time to fish for reds they will be less spooky compared to a low tide. Just low tide you need to be very quiet the reds will spook easily.
Trout are in 8-12 feet on mix bottom a 1/4 to 3/8 oz jig depending on the current and a berkely gulp shrimp in the new penny or white works great now in the same areas you will also catch lady fish, macks, sea bass, gag grouper, and cobia.
Snook are feeding great as well any moving tide will work for snook target points, cuts, and structure a white jerk bait is the ticket.
Tight lines
