The larger Trout have been hard to come by for me lately. Usually if we don't get a lot rain this time of year the Trout will move up the river with all the salt water. We have had enough rain I think because some of my spots up river are not producing like they should.
But that is fishing!!!
It's almost time for the shrimp to start moving toward the Ocean and that will certainly put a boost on the Trout fishing.
Fishing Thursday the 26th with David Reichard his friend Chris and daughter Olivia it was all about Olivia. I have had a lot of kids on my boat over the years and it is always a great thing to see the smiles….
We mainly float fished live shrimp and caught some small Trout and some nice pole bending Jacks. This kid Olivia was totally focused for a 6 year old and was right there to fight every fish. Her father has got a fishing buddy for life if she remains that passionate about fishing.
With not much time left on the trip we tried a few Redfish spots but they were not in the mood. But we did manage to bag one nice for Olivia…….
Fishing Saturday the 28th with Jack Ward and his son Todd I think it was the first trip I have done this whole year and not caught a Trout.
We fished 2 Trout spots catching nothing but Jacks and Bluefish. Nothing against those fish at all because they are a blast to catch but very surprising NO TROUT….
I put my focus on the Redfish for the rest of the trip. We had 6 Reds on and only boated 3. They were all nice fish. To bad the other ones broke us off on the shell mounds but that is part of the game when you're fishing in the shells.
