Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 7/29/07
I must say that this July along with this past week has been the best bass fishing I have seen on Lake Guntersville in many years for a July month. This past week was just outstanding we caught good numbers with up to 15 or more in a short day, missing 20 or more, so plenty of action every day and several good fish as well. The baitfish is just covering the lake and the bass are feeding on them regularly.
Generally this time of year you are fishing deep looking for a few bites but not this past week, the bass have spread the lake and feeding and you can catch them on a variety of baits. I believe that the overcast and rainy skies have continued to help the bass continue to feed. We caught fish this week in the mid part of the lake, fishing top water and "Tight Line Jigs," "Punisher Spinner Baits," and a big worm.
If you have been hiding from the lake because of the heat you have just missed a great July. I expect it to continue and August to be a great month on the water. I have several available days in August it is also the month I teach fishing techniques. If you would like to fish or learn more about techniques please call or see my web site for details.
