As owner of Guntersville Lake's oldest, professional bass guide service I have seen a lot of really big largemouth bass.
For over 40 years I've explored this lake in north Alabama and it just keeps on getting better!
We are still seeing numbers of bass weighing from 8-10 pounds, even after the spawn is now over!
Last week (May 18 to be exact) a client of Reeds Guide Service weighed in a 10 pound 12 ounce largemouth bass! Caught on an old crayfish colored Model A Bomber Crankbait!
We came in and trailered the boat at the Holiday Inn Boat launch in Spring Creek on the lower lake! Boy did that bass get some heads to turning! We took some pictures. The angler let it go right there!
Fishing shallow at dawn with topwaters is your best bet to fool a really big bass right now.
After the sun gets high go to 5-10 feet of water fishing with jig combos, big 10-12 inch worms and over sized lizards and crayfish imitations, creature baits, sweet beavers or tube baits, fishing real slow along ledges, drop-offs, humps and points.
* Also try deep diving crankbaits and 3/4 ounce lipless lures, heavy spinnerbaits and suspending jerkbaits.
