Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 1/5/08
Water Temperature: Main channel 49 degrees
Creeks 44 degrees
This past week on the water started out slow with some extreme cold weather. By the end of the week and the south wind the bass had turned on and Guntersville was in one of its giving moods for great winter fishing. The bass were stacked on the ledges and when you found one you caught several.
Saturday was extremely productive catching nearly 17 pounds on the best of 5 and boating 17 good solid bass. I spent the few days on the water in the upper end of the lake fishing grass edges from about 16 feet of water up to the tops of the ledges. The bass were extremely active; they were schooled up and provided a lot of fun.
Fishing will just get better and better as we head through the winter into the pre-spawn time. If you're not on the water then you are missing some great times on Guntersville. Come fish the grass you'll have a super time.
My best bait this week was a blue and red Tight-Line Jig and 3/8 oz. Fishing it very slow and letting it work for you.
