Fishing in the last few weeks has been up and down. With cold fronts passing by making for windy rough days can make the inshore fishing slow down at times, best fishing is before fronts arrive in our area and then 2 days after the front the fishing will pick back up again. Live shrimp has been the go to bait. Trout are holding on flat lime stone bottom and muddy bottom free lining shrimp or using a float has been the best method for my charters. I like to pinch off the tail of the shrimp for better casting and to put sent in the water. Incoming tide has been the ticket, Some reds are around but not much as the water warms up they will bunch back up in schools. Black drum are around muddy/rocky bottoms incoming or outgoing tide has produce a decent bite again shrimp being the best bait. Offshore the sheepheads are all over the rock piles in 8 to 14 feet of water. Dead stinky shrimp with a 1/0 bait savor hook and a number 11 split shot is all you need fish a high outgoing tide for best action.
Soon we should start to see white bait showing up, Snook season opens March 1st and then its TARPON TIME..
