Pelagics on fire along Nature Coast!! The warming trend brings in tons of bait, which in turn brings in the masses of Pelagics. Cobia, Sharks, Tripletail, and Spanish Mackerel are all here in force and are HUNGRY!! Any live bait, lure or fly coming through the water is susceptible to a beating from any of these speedsters, making for a ton of drag screaming runs and soar wrists.

Big Fish Loading up on Local Flats by Kyle Messier (1/30/2009)
One thing that is for sure is that the water is crystal clear and when chasing any species of fish this is definitely an advantage for the angler. I always try to promote this time of year as one of the best for sight fishing. With little rain and light winds our gin clear flats become oversized aquariums
What a year both Past and Present by Kyle Messier (1/13/2009)
What a year! 2008 was definitely one for the record books. There were record amounts of Redfish, Speckled Trout, Sheephead, Spanish Mackerel, Bonita, Grouper and Sharks all roaming our local area flats. Most of these fish were larger, roamed the area in bigger schools, had a more ferocious mentality and unbelievably remained here in droves well beyond there supposed seasons.
Tons of Angling Opportunities by Kyle Messier (11/19/2008)
The up and down temperatures and the unpredictable weather of November can be very challenging for anglers, but for those anglers who show patience and pay attention to detail this time of year can result in some of the best and biggest catches of the year.
Awesome Speckled Trout Fishing!! by Kyle Messier (10/22/2008)
This time of year most Big Gator Trout tend to feed on bigger baits in order to store up fat for the winter. Because of this a large Pinfish or Silver Mullet stands no chance if it crosses paths with a hefty Trout looking for a meal. Therefore, I tend to upgrade the size of baits that I normally use on a regular basis.
Winter time fishing will heat up on the nature coast by bear smith (10/13/2008)

Fall Fishing Excitement by Kyle Messier (9/30/2008)
With temperatures finally beginning to cool here along the Nature Coast fall has appeared to start gaining the upper hand from the summer heat. Early last week I was fishing in water that hovered around 84 degrees. After a few cold fronts passed over our area our water temperatures are now hovering in the mid to upper 70's. When air and water temps start their downward trends the entire Gulf of Mexico comes to life.

Rainy days of Redfishing by Kyle Messier (8/22/2008)
Although tropical systems are no fun I still enjoy a few rain showers from time to time. As hot as it gets in August and September a little rain shower will never hurt anything. Some of my very best fishing days have came before, after or during the rain. If you think about it fish tend to bite better with slow changes in the barometer and the rain tends to cool water temps down more often than not. This past week was a perfect example of that.
TopWater Redfishing by Kyle Messier (8/04/2008)
What makes inshore light tackle fishing so special? Is it the variety of species an angler can pursue? Is it the awesome scenery? Is it the anticipation of the one-on-one battle that every angler looks forward to? In my opinion what makes inshore light tackle fishing so awesome is the combination of all of the above mentioned factors plus every once in a while a little spice can be thrown in for an added bonus.
Red Hot Temps = Awesome Redfishing by Kyle Messier (6/29/2008)
Lately, my clients and I have been leaving the "world famous" dock of Petes Pier Marina around 6:00-6:30 a.m. in the morning. These early departures have been great for beating the heat and the late afternoon storms that pop up from time-to-time along our coast. With such early departures throwing Topwater lures for healthy Gator Trout and Redfish has been an excellent way to start our mornings.
Big Drum Week!!! by Kyle Messier (6/06/2008)
The Crystal River and Homosassa area is world famous for its inshore shallow water fishing for Redfish. However, many people don't realize just how good our Black Drum fishing is also. Both kinds of Drum are world famous for their size and fighting styles and they both can be targeted together because they inhabit most of the same local backcountry creeks, coves and oysterbeds.
The Time for a Slam is Now!!! by Kyle Messier (5/27/2008)
If you're interested in pursuing a Nature Coast Slam there is no better time than right now. With water temps hovering around the upper 70's into the low 80's, a majority of migratory and native fish species are here along the Nature Coast and feeding regularly.
Totally Tarpon Time by Rick Burns (5/26/2008)
Peak Tarpon season is May and June. Redfish are schooling on the outer islands and points. Trout are being caught in depths of 4' to 8' of water. Most pelagics have moved onto north Florida.
Sight casting time of Year by Kyle Messier (5/05/2008)
April and May are two of my favorite months of the year to fish (besides the other 10). With hardly any rain and almost perfect weather days it's no wonder why people come from all over the world to fish the famous flats of Crystal River and Homosassa area in search of many of the most challenging inshore species on the planet.
First Inshore Slam of 2008!!! by Kyle Messier (4/09/2008)
The highlight of my charters in recent weeks has been an inshore slam that Dave Preston and I performed using nothing but artificial lures provided by Pure Fishing Inc.
AWESOME REDFISHING!!!!!! by Kyle Messier (2/22/2008)
Our local temperatures have been hovering in the mid-to-upper 70's and we have been blessed with summer like temperatures minus the humidity and rain. These warm late day temps have helped keep the water temperatures around 65-66 degrees which has helped keep most local inshore species active and hungry
Redfish and Trout bite finally catching up with the New Year!!!! by Kyle Messier (1/30/2008)
Finally, the Redfish and SeaTrout bite has come into full swing this New Year along the Nature Coast. It only took 4 weeks, but most of the Reds and Trout in the area have finally found their winter hideouts. In recent weeks both the Red and Trout populations have been on the move in search of more consistent water temperatures and an abundant source of food.
Gulf temps still mild, but shallow water Grouper fishing is anything but. by Kyle Messier (1/12/2008)
As the temperatures of January begin to plummet most of the Gulf Coast species should already be holding in their annual winter hideouts. But with temperatures still so mild myself and other guides in the area are still fishing for redfish, seatrout, grouper, shark, mackerel, and pompano in areas where we normally fish during the heart of the summer.
Glory days of Grouper are here!! by Kyle Messier (12/10/2007)
