Fishing offshore has definitely been the type of fishing that is either hit or miss, however this past weekend was definitely a different story. It was just simply hot or cold with the bite. We started trolling in 80' of water working our way NE out of the Ft. Pierce Inlet with mono rigged ballyhoo and artificials in our spread. We trolled for approx. an hour with not even a knockdown. At this time we we right in the midst of decision of making a move when 3 lines went off at the same time. 3 Dolphin in the boat we started working that area to no avail we had no more hits. We started to work our way back to the north and traveled another 6 miles with nothing happening. We hit 160' and we had one reel start screaming, knowing instantly what it was we got and nagler on the rod and backed down on the 40 pound Wahoo that decided to take a bait that was down deep. We tried working that area and once again to no avail. This continued throughout the day, we would hit one area and have numerous baits get hit, continue to work that same area and nothing else come on the boat. We ended the day with 6 Dolphin, 1 Wahoo and 1 Sailfish which we found in 134' on our way back to the dock. Even though a decent day, it was a lot of work and very spuratic action.
