What a beautiful day to be on the Bay. Today's trip with long time client Denny Gustafson and his friend Jim from Illinois got off to a great start. We left the Gladstone Yacht Harbor at 6:30 a.m. and had a pretty fast and furious couple of hours of fishing. We had a two man limit by about 10 a.m. and just kind of played the rest of the day. I decided to take a few fish home today since my wife informed me yesterday that the only fish in the freezer right now is a bag of bluegills from last winter. Denny also landed a nice 36 inch northern that actually went after a perch on one of our harnesses. We ended up catching somewhere around 21 keepers, and about 25 throwbacks, and losing some as well. We caught all of our fish today trolling Walleyes Choice harnesses behind bottom bouncers. Three colors did the trick today, I-42; I-48; and C-81. C-81 was on fire when the sun came out. Lots of suspended fish again today, with many coming only 15 feet down in 30+ feet of water. All of our fish ranged from 16 to 21 inches today. No monsters, but what a great bunch of eating sized fish. The fishing doesn't get any better than it is right now, which is typical for this time of year. August continues to be a fantastic month for walleye fishing in the Bay. Here's a picture of today's catch, good luck from all of us in the Bay de Noc area.
