CHASE N' TAILS FISHING CHARTERS INSHORE FISHING REPORT..
This summer heat is the worst I have seen in years. The day time temperature is at 98 and the feel like temperature is around 105 - 115 it is way to hot. The key to summer time fishing is to beat the heat. Fish early morning or late in the evening and also night time is great as well. Redfish are out there but they have been hard to get with the water temputer at 91 degrees at 6 am in the morning can make for a hard time. Use live and FRESH dead bait cut mullet, pinfish, and green backs work well I will use a 2-3/0 circle hook and free line that has no weight or bobbers. I feel like this time of year keeping the bait on
the bottom work's best the redfish are very sluggish right now so a fresh dead stink bait will get there attention. Redfish are rangeing from 16-30 inches.
The trout bite is best in the deeper waters 10-16 feet on spotty bottom fishing out in these depths I use a 3/8 oz mission fishin jig head with a 3" Gulp shrimp the best colors are white, new penny, and molting, work the bottom slowly keeping the jig on the bottom will produce more hits from other fish like seabass, sharks, flounder, trout, and grouper.
Summer time is a great time for scalloping it is a fun family event for all age's the scallop's are very thick right now and getting your limit is no problem. So book a trip with Capt. Josh and enjoy the great fishing and bright sunny day's here on the Nature Coast.
