Fort Lauderdale fishing in May has been nothing less than great. All of our popular game fish are present. The bonita, plenty of them. Kingfish, tired of catching them. Dolphin, hit or miss but when you hit its good, real good. Sailfish, put in your time and you will get your shots. Blackfin tuna, got those too, but scale down the terminal tackle (30 or 40# Flouro) to get the bite. Sharks, the hammerhead continues to dominate the scene, prowling, on its migration south always on alert for a dead or live bait. Rig big if you want to catch them nothing less than 19 wire and 400# shock cord fished on an 80 spooled with 100#.

Everyone wants dolphin, they are normally easy to catch, fight hard, jump and oh yeah, they taste great. We have been seeing and catching lots of them in tight 200-500 feet of water regardless of water color. These early schools of fish are pushing hard to the south have chunks and small white baits ready. These fish will not hang around the boat like those offshore in summer. Keep moving south with the fish and when you lose them pick up and run south and start chunking again. Same when you see the birds working, they may not always take your trolled baits, throw chunks and small livies to get the bite.
