Well, folks.
The strong winds and the freak snow storms of the last week or two, have put the ki-bosh on much of the available fishing opportunities. Bobbing around in 1 to 3 footers isn't all that bad if your perch fishing out of a decent size boat. But the smaller crafts are both to tipsy and dangerous to be out when both the water temps and conditions turn this bad this fast.
I did manage to get into the Hot Ponds one day for some bass, and on the Tittabawassee River one day trying for some early walleyes. Both trips turned out to be both fun and prosperous, with jigs and minnows being the enticement of choice. The pictures of both trips are posted with this report.
The water temps for this early stage of the game are more like mid-November versus mid-October so far, and just may expedite both the river run of walleyes and possibly the winter ice fishing season. Of course we have had false starts to both of these seasons before and ended up back in T-shirts and open boats all the way into December. So playing it by ear has always been best, especially in Michigan.
I wish I had more info to share, but most of you know I'm mainly a "Walleye man". And until things really break loose on the rivers, here say perch reports and the occasional walleye river trip report is about all I can provide right now. So keep the faith a few more weeks and keep me in mind for a river charter in the future. And if you get out yourself, be safe, fish smart
