We have been having a good couple of weeks recently fishing on the Conched Out. We have been catching everything from snappers to mackerals to marlin in the last week from Boca Raton to Fort Lauderdale.
On the reef we have been catching snappers pretty consistently when the current is running right. Yellow tails, muttons and mangroves have all been biting well. The mangroves have been biting good at night and early or late in the day. With yellows and muttons both day and night.
Slightly deeper the king mackerals have been hit or miss, but when they hit it has been good. We have had days with 8-12 fish in an hour when they are biting and the next day not a bite. There is a few pods of them around and if you run across them they are biting well on live bait and strips and have been in the 10-35lb range off Ft. Lauderdale.
Offshore the dolphin fishing has been really good, most of the fish are in the smaller range though. Our biggest last week was 25lbs though so there are a few decent ones mixed in.
Last time offshore while catching dolphin we did catch a white marlin. A nice 50-60lb. fish ate a strip bait and put on a great show for our charter. We don't catch a lot of these great fish but this is the time of year where we seem to catch a few with all the smaller dolphin off of Fort Lauderdale.
Swordfishing charters remain hot if you are looking for a workout. Daytime fishing has been producing fish form 150-250lbs for us and we have been getting 3-5 bites in a day. At night as usual the fish have been slightly smaller but it has been more comfortable weather.
In the bahamas the yellowfin tunas are still chewing good as well as good bottom fishing. Its a short run to bimini and the fishing can be as good as it gets in the bahamas.
Give me a call if you want to get in on some of this great action.
