Today was exciting, a huge 62 pound dolphin was caught trolling about 6 miles offshore of Fort Lauderdale in about 600ft of water. The fish ate a Williamson rigged feather on a 20 pound spinning rod outfit. The bait was a tiny bait, meant for a schoolie dolphin to swallow quickly or maybe a tuna. Well, the biggest dolphin I have seen in years came up and swallowed it.

The fish was hooked, fought and landed by angler Jim Kelly on a private fishing trip off Fort Lauderdale. He said, 'the fish looked huge when it was jumping out there'. After a long battle with the fish, it was close enough to gaff and throw in the box. What a fish! This is the biggest dolphin I have seen hit the docks in a year or 2. The big dolphin are migrating down the coast now! April and May are the best months to go out there and get into the biggest dolphin we have all year here in Fort Lauderdale. Let's go fishing!
