We went out near where we were yesterday, the Pioneer Canyon below the HMB Weather Buoy, stopped a little shallower in 800+ feet of water. Saw marks on the bottom, but got hooked up on the drop. The squid were already up near the surface! But so were the sharks. We lost a dozen of the big squid jigs in short order. The sharks were biting at the shiny end, severing the line. Weather was a bit sloppy. 14 knots when we got there, a wind chop and 7x14 swell/period. That made for a lot of rocking and rolling. The moral of the story is: the squid are still out there! 43 squid for 13 anglers.
