On a trip last Friday the Red fish just wouldn't play!!! The tide was lower than normal because if the Harvest Moon so finding Red fish was no problem. I tried everything I knew might work on several nice schools of fish but it wasn't going to work for me that morning.
I was looking forward to a hard pulling Red fish. So after a few hours chasing the Red fish it was off to float fish for Trot and Blues.
The great thing about float fishing is you never know what you might catch along with your target species. That morning was just Trout and Blue fish but we did manage to get into some nicer Trout…
It's good to see the larger Trout starting to come back around and in another month they should be in full force.
Floating live shrimp we caught at least 2 dozen Trout but we had several fish in the 3 to 4 pound range along with plenty of nice line pulling Blue fish.
It want be much longer before the Red fish will start getting active as our water temp starts to rise.
We have had some great weather and it's always nice to catch fish in the dead of winter. We don't even have to drill a hole in the ice!!!
