Starting with the backwaters of the Indian River Lagoon where I began my charter yesterday, talk about steady action as I had a 12 year old wanting to bend the rod on anything. Drifting an oyster bar that I knew would keep us busy paid off as we caught well over 20 ladyfish, jacks, trout, catfish of course, along with several beauties of sailors choice!! Sweet! The tarpon in this area were rolling everywhere we looked, all around the boat but we just couldnt get them to take our offerings. That's tarpon fishing. Most were 20-30 pounders.....which would have been awesome for the young man to hook up with, maybe next time!

Redfishing has been a bit slow the past couple weeks but is finally improving as they are schooling up in water so shallow it's barely covering their backs. Cut ladyfish tossed around the schools or pigfish should get their attention.

Trout fishing continues to be great with our pigfish at the perfect size. Toss the pigs in 2-4 feet of water with sandholes present in Mosquito Lagoon for steady action. Hit some spots, and if you get no action within 10 minutes move till you find them.

Good luck and get on out there!
