Inshore Fishing Bite Pattern
While fishermen wait for that "Everything is Alive at 65," meaning the water temperature just needs a few more warming degrees, "there are good and slow bites!" At this time fish are trying to come out of a hibernation mode and with water temperatures "teeter toddle-ring" back and force "the bite can be a little unpredictable. However, sticking to a plan can offer more action than not! The means if you are planning on fishing the sound area "do so!" I suggest picking out an area making sure that you work the shallow as well as the deeper area off the bank or oyster rakes. If you have been following my reports you already know that it's possible to catch all kinds of fish around and over oyster rakes. However, that's not the only places that you can get a "good solid bite." Areas that have small sloughs dumping into the main current most of the time offer up some sort of bite pattern. The secret once again is to work the area before moving on. This means shallow and deep letting the "current delivered" guide you bait. After all where you have currents running together you will most likely have small and larger fish.
Black drum are darker when caught inshore and lighter in color when taken from the offshore waters. At this time we are catching more black drum offshore that we are inshore.
