The holiday season is upon us, along with the cooler weather and cooler water temps. The inshore fishing has been excellent the past two weeks. The water temps have dropped which means the Snook, and Jacks are making there way back into the rivers in search of warmer water. The Fat Snook and the Common Snook are everywhere up in the Loxahatchee River. Just about every dock is holding Snook. Both incoming and outgoing tides produce great numbers of catches. The Fat Snook are averaging 17 to 24", and the Common Snook have been 18 to 34". Live greenies have been the bait of choice along with small finger mullet. The Jacks are everywhere all the time. Any live bait fished near a sea wall or dock piling will not last long with the Jacks around. The Jacks are schooled up and are averaging 1 to 20 pounds. These fish make for great fun on Light fishing tackle and will bring the pain to those who think there tough. The snapper bite has been excellent also; these little fish are great for kids and will keep them busy all day. Live shrimp and greenies work the best for these little scavengers.
The flats have been getting better and better with every passing front. The Ladyfish and Jacks have been cruising the grass flats and will take small jigs and top water early in the morning. The Pompano have not showed up yet but they will be here soon. The Sea Trout have been hanging on the drop offs; any small jig or jerk bait moved slowly will produce. Trout season is closed November and December so make sure handle them with care when you release them.
The freshwater fishing has been a little slow but should pick back up soon. The best time to fish has been late afternoon; do to the water temps rising in the middle of the day. The bigger bass are holding in the deep drop offs, jigs and small crank baits work best. Live shiners will also work great and will help to produce a couple of Peacock bass in the mix.
Well that is the report for the past weeks if you would like to catch any of the fish mentioned above give Capt. Craig Korczynski a call to book your next light tackle inshore fishing charter. I will be out of town November 17th – 25th on a hunting trip.
