The first day I have fished in a while when the wind wasn't howling! Last weekend despite the cold temperature it was to the water to enjoy good conditions…

Phil Baker and myself had high hopes for the morning as we worked our first school of 6 to 8 pound Red fish in a foot of water. Everything we had and every method we both know didn't work. So off to another school of Reds and the same thing.

There is nothing worse than watching nice fish swim and not giving you the time of day! 2 hours of that and it was a boat ride to another area and some deeper water. When I say deeper I mean it was in the 6 foot range and loaded with fish. The only problem was it was a waiting game.

Not wanting to give up we soaked baits for over an hour to only get 3 bites but they were the bites we wanted. One 10 pound Red fish and 2 nice Drum. Not a lot for 4 hours but well worth the wait. Sometimes you have to keep pressing on to get results this time of year and sometimes you don't get the results you want.

What can I say when I'm fishing comfortably in late February…..

I have been fishing the Jacksonville Florida area over 30 years with many a memorable fishing trip starting when I was a kid. We are in between and only minutes away from Amelia Island and St. Augustine, we can enjoy the fishing any direction. From downtown to the mouth of the ocean and all the back water in between.
