Tim, I and the film crew hit the bow today to film the bow segment of the show. Tim was fishing streamers to start the day but other than a few nice fish that boiled as soon as the fly hit we weren't moving many fish. I streamer fished for a bit and the result wasn't much different. We stuck Tim back in the casting brace and I started rowing again, but this time with Tim nymphing. Tim hooked a really nice brown we lost, but followed it up with a nice 19" brown. We then picked up a couple fish from a mid river ledge above Policeman's flats.

We stopped for lunch and tried hopper dropper fishing that bank but no snouts to be seen. Tim got a 20" rainbow that was a nice fish but not as thick as we would expect from a typical July rainbow. The fishing was still really tough, the lingering effects of the rain and water release from last Monday, which seemed to be keeping the fish off the banks during the day.

In the evening we found the snouts we had been hunting for. We found several very nice fish feeding actively within inches of the bank in water less than a foot deep, classic bow river snout hunting! We got some great footage of a big brown feeding on the surface but when we slipped into the water behind it to make a cast we must've given ourselves away as the fish stopped rising. We made no mistakes on the next fish though as a feisty 18" rainbow sucked in Tim's little caddis and then slid into the net, a great way to finish the day.
