Jason joined me for an evening float on the bow today. We did the city stretch and floated down from Glenmore down to Fish Creek Park. Jason and his daughter Erin are going to be fishing with us tomorrow. The point of tonight's trip was to try and get that one big fish. Tomorrow when he's floating the bow with Jason Brown, his guide, that will be the day when they get into a bunch of fish and nymphing cause nymphing has been producing a lot of fish right now. And so tomorrow's going to be about numbers and tonight was about that one big fish. So we stripped streamers the whole time. We moved several very nice fish and hooked a couple of browns that were in the 20 to 22 inch range that kept coming unbuttoned. Jason was a very good fisherman and was getting the flies everywhere we needed to get them which was why he kept moving fish but we were having troubled keeping some of these fish buttoned. He'd hooked 6 fish in a row that had come off and he's looking at me going what happened? And I'm looking at him going- I'm not entirely sure. He had a good cast, he had a big take, he got a good hookset and he was tight to the fish and the fish still got off. Turns out these fish do this full time so they are pretty good at what they do. We were however able to get Jason into a fish, he got himself a nice 20 inch brown in the dark, that we actually pulled into the takeout with this fish on and netted the fish in the take out. So it was a pretty nice way to finish the day. There were a couple of big fish we would have liked to land for Jason to see but either way that's the way fishing goes sometimes right.
