Saludos from Puerto Rico.
Happy Fourth of July.
The fishing in the Trench was sporty with winds in the 20+ knots and seas most of the days 6-8 ft. Sargasso is also a situation that is making the fishing almost impossible.
The billfish action was slow for us But plenty of action with the king macks, bonito, cudas and mutton snappers. Boats from San Juan were reporting multiple releases and plenty of stories of the Fish Aggregating Devices already working, having mahi, wahoo and billfish lurking them.
Dr Alejandro Toruella and Dr Wess Merten are exhorting all fisherman of Puerto Rico to provide reports of the fishing on slow as well as good days.
The Data provided will dictate the maintenance and deployment of more FADs than are proven to work and provide more abundant stocks. Reports can be made at Survey Monkey or contact the scientist directly.
Back to the fishing Also some bird piles producing nice yellow fins Tuna in San Juan and Fajardo, But need to find the birds and have the lures that do not rake the Sargasso but instead jump and clean themselves.
Tight Lines and till next Bite
