Team Smokin Em fished the local St. Lucie County Sherrifs Explorers Tournament this weekend and although not placing first, Female angler Kathi Coombes did take second place fish for that division.
Trout action was so unreal that on every cast we had a fish hooked up, and that was not just one member. Using Mirrolure Mirrodines everyone on the boat had a fish hooked up. The Trout schools were very easy to find as all you had to do was look for the birds. Much like an offshore feeding frenzy these fish were working over the glass minnows so hard that the birds lead us to the majority of the fish. Working the water hard and the fish were there. Most of the Trout were in the 15-18" range, however a few bigger fish were also in the mix. Upon running to the Southern Flats we found the birds working again and once again found the Trout.
Even thought the season has opened for Snook it has been hard to catch a "slot" fish. Most of the fish are well over the new size limits.
Redfish are working on some of the flats however they are not thick in numbers due to the high temp of the water. Once the sun comes up they are off to deeper water.
