Kabetogama/Namakan Fishing Report May 19, 2008

Anglers are a happy bunch these days; Kabetogama and Namakan have been kicking out walleyes by the numbers'incredible numbers.

Shorelines and resort docks are the heaviest producers--providing bigger fish, including big smallmouth.

Northern pike are very aggressive, with 2 ' 3# being most common.

Deeper waters that approach shallow water, and spawning areas seem to hold smaller walleyes in the harvest category.

Minnows are hands down the best bait choice, either jigs, rigs or slip bobbers.

Reports of X-raps in shallow water doing extremely well and are a great alternative to live bait.

Gold, and tri-color--red, white and blue--jigs are working well, with some anglers using chartreuse.

Crappie action has not started; lakes need to warm another week or so. When the lilacs bloom, crappies bite.

Take a look at the new high definition map--it's a dandy.

Have a Great Day!
