Kabetogama/Namakan Fishing Report 1/22/07
No unusual weather this past week, pretty much normal temperatures, but again no snow.
The lakes and snowmobile trails are crying for snow, but the ice conditions are good.
This past weekend anglers were doing their best to locate crappies and walleyes, some had success, but most found fishing slow.
The best depth for walleyes seems to be in the 26-32' range, minnow and blade type jigs or glow jigs are favored.
Crappies have been real spotty; the Kab/Ash River area is most accessible. Live bait with a tube jig gets some action.
There has been a fair bite again for keeper size perch, walleye anglers have reported.
Northern pike action has slowed some, lots of 2-3 pounders this past week, with larger pike being elusive.
Anyone having that favorite fishing hole you've wanted to try in the past years can have at it this year. Ice surface is smooth and no slush, a few ridges exist requiring caution however.
