Kabetogama/Namakan Fishing Report 11/10/08
Most the areas attention was focused on the Big Game Opener this past weekend.
Weather has been unfriendly most the week. The front part of the week was great for fishing and boating with warm temperatures and mild winds.
Walleye bite was again strong and the target for most anglers. The nice weather gave way to wind and rain and few if any ventured out on the lakes.
Hunters found the weather to be quite intimidating, between mid-week and the weekend we had strong winds and over 2 1/2" rain.
Saturdays opener was met with light snow and heavy winds, the deer laid low till mid-afternoon when things picked up some.
At the time of this writing on Sunday evening this years opener trails last years by a small margin.
An inch of fresh snow is helping hunters and this weather allows hunters to keep their game at the camp which could explain what appears to be a slower start.
Looking at the forecast this week, we might have a few good opportunities to close out the soft water fishing season, and get in a late afternoon hunt.
Hope to see you Soon,
Phil and Ellen Hart
