Kabetogama/Namakan Fishing Report 1/14/08

Pike appear to be moving deeper for spearing and angling. The best pike bite for tip-ups is 18-25'. Those still spearing should go as deep as possible.

The walleye and its related species seem to favor either side of 30'. A couple good accessible areas at the entrance to Ash River from Kabetogama. The deep structures out from Lost Lake and reef edges in the 30' range.

Small glow jigs tipped with minnows seem to be the most popular offering with some action on horizontal jigs.

Ice conditions vary, but Kabetogama and Namakan to Sandpoint have pretty-well traveled ice. Use extreme caution if in an untraveled area.

Trout anglers going into Mukoda and Little Trout Lake be forewarned you can only fish with artificial baits. That means no ciscoes or any other form of live bait. This regulation in force as a result of the spiny water flea.

Snowmobiling on our land trails is excellent from the border south.

See you soon,
