Kabetogama/Namakan Fishing Report 12/28/08

Another week of mixed bag weather, minus 25 to plus 25 and snow with a little freezing rain. This adds up to difficult ice traveling.

Anglers and spearers made paths to the previously traveled locations and found easy travel and a pretty good bite.

The lake has areas of slush that impedes travel, but many anglers have found it worth the effort to get out.

The walleye/sauger bite is best at 25' plus, spots near the Kabetogama/Sullivan Bay entrance has been good and outside Lost Lake.

Pike still doing well in Duck, Irwin, Moxie Bays including shorelines down to Blind Ash Bay. Live decoys are the favored presentation.

For snowmobilers, the land trails are being groomed where permissible. The Arrowhead Trail in the Kabetogama area connecting tot he Hagerman on north has good traveling.Swampy areas along many of the trails have yet to freeze down, similar problems exist on lake trails.
