Sal Mattino

This trip is one of many recent trips due the seas conditions calming down over the last two weeks. Live bait has appeared in full force over the last two weeks bringing in the Bonito run!

After filling the live well it can be hard to find a place whre the bonito are not!But if your patient and get down past the hard fighting Bonito you can come up with some keeper Mutton Snapper. In recent years Muttons have been mostly shorts. Thats is under regulation size of 16 inches in length on the Atlantic Ocean side. But over the last several weeks the snapper have been mostly keeper size between 17-20 inches in length.

Back to the Kingfish bite, srtikes have been at a frantic pace this week with an average of 6-10 cuts offs. You can use wire leader but you will recieve more strikes without! I you use circle hooks you have a good chance of a great hook set in the side of the fishes mouth. As usuall the afternoon thunder storms are rolling in!Thats my report from St. Lucie Sportfishing Charters, I am Captain Sal. Boat safe, fish hard!
