Line side fishing is great and the striper fishing has really changed in the past week. The water temperatures finally hit the magic number of 55 degrees and with that the top water action has taken off. Flat lines and planner boards are working great right at sun up threadfin and gizzard shad are working well. By mid day change over to down lines and trout seem to be out fishing shad 3 to 1 this week and mid lake is still the place to be. There are tons of fish between Kellogg Creek and Stamp Creek. This is the only part of the lake we have fished in the past 3 weeks. There may be some fish up in Allatoona Creek but we just haven't been that far south in weeks. Trolling has been by far the best bite on the water after the sun comes up. December and January are 2 of the only months of the year that trolling will out product live bait fishing sometimes as much as 7 to1 in a full day trip. This is the time of the year you have to be universal when it comes to striper fishing. Use live bait over trolling but there are just sometimes of the year that trolling just can't be beat. The top water bite is really starting to heat up. So keep a spook or a Sammy ready for these busting beasts. We still got a few good days open for Christmas vacation. The bite on Carters has been very good for trophy stripers and spots. Big stripers up to 22 pounds and 5 pound plus spotted bass are being caught. We are running a special though the end of January. If you book a 6 hour trip on Carters Lake with First Bite Guide Service and mention Have Fun Fishing you will receive and extra 2 hours on me. That right 8 hours for the price of 6.
