Lake Allatoona Fishing Report AUG WEEK 3
Water Temp: 79-82
Water Level: 4.31 ft low
Fishing is Fair: Water has dropped .91 feet since last week. This cool weather continues to drop the water temps down to the 79-82 degree range. Water at Red Top is hovering at around 78-79 at first light. I made it all the way up past Victoria and the water was consistantly 82-83 degrees. Things are still fairly inconsistant. It's basically a junk pattern and covering as much water as possible with finesse type baits.
II didn't mess with the crankbait bite any thus far but I am sure it is still there. Both of my groups of guys this week wanted to play with the spoons/sonar and dropshot so we stayed with those techniques for the most part. Schooling on top is barely there and the sonar bite is pretty much the same. If I had to pick the strongest pattern to grunt it out it would be the brush and dropshot bite ie finesse fishing (oh the pain and the agony LOL). However on the bright side the crappie bite is pretty good LOL. Just like last week you have to cover quite a bit of brush to scratch out an average limit. The dropshot is doing it's best damage on the bluffs and even those fish are on the small side. Just pick a good shoreline and grunt it out in the 15 to 20ft range and be thinking about this full moon getting out of the way and that fall bite right around the corner. I expect the awesome Senko Fishing to start pulling it's weight more within the next couple of weeks provided our cool temps continue. They are hitting it now but it's fairly sporadic.
