Line-side fishing is starting to really heat up. The upper Etowah is with out question the best bite on the lake. I got e-mails and phone calls from different anglers who have been wearing them out up there. Any where from Fields Landing all the way up to the ball field in Canton. I have seen pictures of some really good fish caught up there this week. Stripes well up in the 20's and Hybrids around 10 pounds. But with the river run being so strong this year. So is the boat traffic. Even a strong river run like the one we got this year. There will only be about 30% of the fish up there. So with that being said I decided to stay south of mid lake. And have been doing very well.. All your main creek are holding fish. And so are your beaches. The water Temp is in the mid 60's. And this is prime for top water. Free-lines, flat-lines and Planner boards are working best.
Top water is getting very good right at sun up . And right at dark. A 3/8 oz bucktail will get bit all most every-time if you can get it to these busting fish.
Trolling is Good. The fish are on the edge of the river channel .And the Mack Farr u-rig is a GREAT way to catch these fish . I look for a great trolling bite come April….The Dugout Bait Store in Marietta just got a new shipment of Mack Farr u-rigs in. Give them a call for directions 770 428-7406
